Dr Howard Settle inspires M.U.M. graduates with Maharishi's 'great values of knowledge' - Part II

During the Commencement ceremonies on 28 June 2008 at Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield, Iowa, USA, Dr Howard Settle gave a profound and inspiring address, honouring the 'extraordinary graduates' as the most fortunate graduating class in the history of the world, having received from the University's Founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, 'the great values of knowledge'—'the highest knowledge on earth for managing the entire universe'. Dr Settle's address featured passages he read aloud from a beautiful letter he and his wife, Dr Alice Settle, had received from Maharishi not long before his passing.

After discussing the value of Transcendental Meditation, 'the master key for managing the universe' from the field of silence within their own Self, Dr Settle continued his address, warmly encouraging the graduates to implement Maharishi's practical technologies—Maharishi Ayur-Veda, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda , and Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya Programmes—to successfully manage not only the silent, but all the dynamic aspects of their lives. He also gave them five suggestions from his own experience.

Dr Settle's recommendations carried the great authority and authenticity of his own experience. Dr Howard and Dr Alice Settle have made brilliant use of all the technologies and programmes of Maharishi's Vedic Science over the years to achieve rapid progress to enlightenment and great business success—which has also enabled them to generously support the Invincible America Assembly and the large groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits (peace-creating experts) in Fairfield and nearby Maharishi Vedic City—Maharishi's programmes to create invincibility for the United States and the world.

'If the eternal silence is managed by Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme', Dr Settle said, '—then what about this dynamic world you live in, the world in which you must succeed?

'Obviously there are two aspects of life that must be managed, the silent and the dynamic. In this regard we're extremely fortunate, because Maharishi has given to the world the knowledge to manage the entire range of creation.'

Dr Settle quoted another passage from Maharishi's letter:

'Guru Dev* gave me the shortest entry into reality, Yoga, which opens the door of Jyotish, Yagya, Ayur-Veda, Sthapatya Veda, and these are the great values of knowledge.'

Again continuing with his address, Dr Settle said, 'So from the greatest sage, we learned ''the great values of knowledge''.

'It is your great good fortune that Maharishi gave the world a very practical understanding of how these great values of knowledge can be implemented in your daily life. These practical applications are the essential tools for managing the entire range of dynamism.'

'How do we implement these ''great values of knowledge''—Ayur-Veda, Sthapatya Veda, Jyotish, and Yagya?

'Maharishi Ayur-Veda is the science of health, the great value of maintaining perfect health, strength, vitality, and energy,' Dr Settle said. Describing some of the simple, easily implemented approaches of prevention-oriented health care through Maharishi Ayur-Veda, he continued, 'Ayur-Veda is the technique for managing your own physiology.

'Maharishi Sthapatya Veda is the technique for managing the local environment. The precise mathematics of Sthapatya Veda architecture, and the proper orientation of Vastu buildings, give you the benefit of very powerful forces in Nature, and these structures establish an orderly environment in which you can work, organize, and create at the highest level of your capacity.

'In Vastu, you're protected from many chaotic influences that will constantly distract you from trying to achieve your goals. The thoughts you think in perfect Vastu are powerful, and these coherent thoughts will penetrate the environment with force and with purpose, and will set in motion the fundamental processes that are necessary for you to accomplish your goals, and with the least amount of effort and with maximum efficiency.'

Echoing Maharishi's words, Dr Settle said, 'Sthapatya Veda is a very great value in managing your day-to-day activities in the most orderly manner. The practical implementation of Sthapatya Veda is to live and work in perfect Vastu.

'Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya Programmes go hand in hand. Maharishi Jyotish is the knowledge that can predict the many influences of your past actions. It's like checking the weather map before you take a journey. It will alert you to the conditions that you will face in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.

Once again quoting from Maharishi's letter, Dr Settle said,

'The only field of knowledge and experience that always protects the world and maintains it on a high level of invincibility will be the field of Jyotish, which is the mathematics of Natural Law.'

Continuing his address, Dr Settle said, 'Knowing the influences that you will face is certainly a great advantage, but Maharishi has given us an extraordinary tool to actually adjust those influences so that we can mitigate the challenges and enhance the positive influences. He has given us the knowledge of Yagya, to ''avert the danger that has not yet come''.

'These Vedic performances can be directed for specific purposes. For instance, the Vedic Pandits that are here in Fairfield are performing Yagyas to protect America from all negative influences, and to create an environment of peace and prosperity. In other words, Yagyas are being performed to create invincibility for an entire nation. So Yagyas are powerful.'

Dr Settle once more quoted from Maharishi's letter:

'In my future programmes for the permanency of a larger and larger number of Vedic Pandits to perform increasingly effective Yagyas, because that is the only thing that will effectively uphold world consciousness on an eternal level of invincibility, I want to engage from now on, as large a number of Vedic Pandits as possible.'

Continuing again in his own words, Dr Settle said, 'Fortunately for all of us, Yagyas can be performed for individuals for any reason. And this great value will allow you to manage the vast cosmic influences that have been set in motion by your past actions.

'With these practical programmes to implement ''the great values of knowledge'', you can manage the whole range of creation. The Vedic Literature describes this range as being from ''smaller than the smallest to larger than the largest''.

'You have the master key to your success in the form of your TM and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, which gives you the experience of eternal silence, which is the source of everything. And you have the techniques and practical programmes that you can implement at your discretion, to manage the dynamic physical reality.

'You have Ayur-Veda to manage your physiology for perfect health and strength. You have Sthapatya Veda to protect you from the environmental chaos and to allow your thoughts to be most powerful. You have Jyotish to alert you to the influences of the cosmic environment; and you have Yagya to change these influences in such a manner that you can literally accomplish anything.

'And you should be alert to the fact that Maharishi used all of these techniques and all of these great values of knowledge in order to accomplish his goals.'

In addition to all of this, Dr Settle pointed out, this M.U.M. graduating class has 'one unique advantage that no other graduating class has ever experienced. You are graduating under the influence of the greatest coherence creating assembly in America's history. The Invincible America Assembly is creating an atmosphere of peace and prosperity that is indomitable—and you will begin your chosen career propelled by this extraordinary wave of consciousness.

'With these practical techniques to implement the ''great values of knowledge'', coupled with the power of the Invincible America Assembly, you have everything you need to manage the entire range of creation and to fulfil any goal that you choose.

'For these reasons', Dr Settle said, 'I proclaim you the most fortunate graduating class in the history of the world.'
