The activities and progress of the Global Country of World Peace in Bulgaria

On a recent Global Family Chat, Raja Peter Warburton, Raja of Bulgaria for the Global Country of World Peace, spoke about a school and new centres for Transcendental Meditation in Bulgaria.

First Raja Peter reported that Dr Donka Hodjeva, along with her husband Ivan, is the National Director of the Global Country of World Peace in Bulgaria. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, always referred to Dr Donka Hodjeva as the 'Mother of Bulgaria'.

Bulgaria is a country of seven and a half million people and has a requirement of 270 Yogic Flyers to create national invincibility. Bulgaria is located to the east of Macedonia, north of Greece, and west of the Black Sea.

Under Maharishi's direction, a special map of Bulgaria has been developed and designed by Dr Roget Audet, Minister of Global Survey of the Global Country of World Peace, to show the 12 principal cultural regions of Bulgaria. Maharishi wanted the Global Country of World Peace in Bulgaria to be focussed in these 12 cultural regions.

Raja Peter reported that a Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training course will soon be held at the Brahma-Sthan [auspicious central area of the country] of Bulgaria, where the Global Country of World Peace in Bulgaria also owns an apartment block in which World Peace Assemblies* take place every weekend.

A school was recently purchased in Sophia, which is now a Maharishi School, and has licenses for teaching information technology and mathematics; journalism; public relations and publicity; and foreign languages including English. These are the principal disciplines taught at the school along with Consciousness-Based Education.

This school had never heard of Transcendental Meditation before. Dr Donka Hodjeva became the director of this school, which currently has 34 students aged 14 to 18. She hired a Head Teacher, who learnt Transcendental Meditation, and other qualified teachers who are also practising the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. There are 24 other teachers who come in to teach the other disciplines.

Major publicity is being organized about the school and gradually, Dr Hodjeva says, 'There is more and more support from the teaching profession, from the parents, from the media, and from pupils.' Her own daughter was one of the pupils at the school.

Raja Peter reported that Maharishi had recommended that three Transcendental Meditation centres be established in Sofia, the capital city. Two have been acquired.

'Maharishi asked us to have several centres so that all the Meditators and Yogic Flyers don't have to travel too far from their work to the group programme [at the end of the day], or to group programme on their way to work in the morning,' Raja Peter said, 'so that it's very convenient and comfortable for everyone to practise their programme together and create invincibility for their nation.'

* World Peace Assemblies: Special courses for individuals to practise the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, in a group for the creation of coherence in national consciousness and world peace.
