by Global Good News staff writer

Dr Peter Warburton, Raja (Administrator) of England for the Global Country of World Peace, recently reported on the tour of world-renowned filmmaker Dr David Lynch and legendary singer Dr Donovan Leitch through the UK, which has resulted in widespread media coverage about Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme and Consciousness-Based Education.
As reported in Part I of this article, there has been an 'unfettered expression of interest, carrying through all the national media, in the most successful way', Dr Warburton said.
One of the newspapers, The Independent, published two articles, one entitled ''Bring peace to schools by meditation, say Lynch and Donovan'' (see Global Good News article about this story in The Independent) and also a full page of questions and answers about Transcendental Meditation.
Dr Warburton said that in answer to one of the questions—'has David Lynch done this before?'—the article reported that 'yes' because of Dr Lynch's inspiration and generosity, 20,000 students and teachers in the United States have learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme. 'He has also donated millions to the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace,' the article stated. The article quoted Dr Lynch explaining that Transcendental Meditation has significantly reduced violence and drug abuse 'in some of the worst schools in the US'.
The many interviews and newspaper articles resulted in a 20-minute discussion about the initiative for Consciousness-Based Education on national radio. The discussion was featured during a call-in show with an audience of six to seven million people. 'So it was really a national debate . . . and it was very positive on the whole,' Dr Warburton said.
Dr Warburton said, when Maharishi heard 'about this response and the way the country as a whole was picking it up and talking about it, and it was coming [out on] one radio station after the next—national radio, and television—Maharishi said: So there's an awakening, there's a wave.'
