On 1 September 2007 The Courier-Mail reported: Mike Love, lead singer of the renowned band, The Beach Boys, has been a practitioner of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme for almost 40 years. He says Transcendental Meditation is essential to the success of his musical career, which began in the early 1960's and is still going strong with nearly 200 shows per year. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of business.
The article recognized Love as a driving force behind the band's continuing success and also praised his creativity and talent in co-writing some of the band's most famous songs—such as Good Vibrations which according to the article is 'one of the best-loved songs of all time'.
'Love credits his interest in meditation for maintaining his stamina in a band that started before—and has played more shows than—the Rolling Stones,' the article reported.
'I learnt Transcendental Meditation from . . . Maharishi in December 1967, and I still meditate every day. It's been of tremendous value to me. That's the reason I can do 175 shows a year,' The Courier-Mail quoted Love as saying.
